Stroud break in, pursuit and arrest Stroud, Booral, Lime Burners Ck by NOTA - January 1, 2017 Police have charged two men after a break and enter and pursuit in Stroud, north-west of Port Stephens, yesterday. Police have been told about 6.25am (Saturday 31 December 2016), a break and entered occurred on a licences premises on Cowper Street, Stroud. Later that morning, the Black BMW allegedly involved in the break and enter was sighted by officers from Port Stephens Local Area Command on Bucketts Way, Stroud. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over when it is alleged the driver failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit was then terminated for safety reasons when the vehicle allegedly crossed to the incorrect side of the road. Following inquiries, the vehicle was located in bushland near Karuah. Officers from Port Stephens Local Area Command, assisted by the Dog Unit, PolAir and Traffic and Highway Command then initiated a search for the occupants. Two men, aged 31 and 18, were arrested a short time later in Karuah and taken to Port Stephens Police Station. The 31-year-old man has been charged with 15 offences including stolen motor vehicle, Skyes Law (Pursuit), two counts of drive manner dangerous, three counts of break, enter and steal, two counts of trespass and possess unauthorised plates. The 18-year-old man has been charged with five offences including an outstanding arrest warrant (robbery), carried in conveyance, break, enter and steal, possess prohibited drug and malicious damage. They will both appear at Newcastle Local Court today (Sunday 1 January 2017).
