THE Final of the last Bowls Club event of the year, the “Jim Scanlon Shield” was played on Sunday 15 November in ideal conditions on No.1 synthetic green at Stockton Bowling Club.

In what was an entertaining game, the team of Ian Griffiths, Leo Payne and Dean Ward, who is not a recognized skipper, but may be now, defeated the team of Rod Cue, Ian Johnson, who was substituting for Larry Harmer who was taken to hospital unexpectedly with appendicitis, and Col Firkin (Skip) by 19-11 shots.

In the Semi-Finals, played the day before, Dean had defeated the team of Wayne McMahon, Ross Wright and Tug Smith by 25-18 shots and Col defeated the team of Greg Penfold, Simon McDonald and Brian Hitchcock by 25-20 shots.

The last official function of the year is Presentation Night combining both Ladies and Mens Clubs and will be held on Saturday 21st November 2020. Jack High PO.
