Start working these holidays with Barista Essentials training

LEARNING barista skills can open numerous career paths in the hospitality industry.

NV College General Manager Karen Busby invites local people to give coffee-making a go at NV College’s fee-free four-day courses starting soon.

“Barista training can take you anywhere these days as cafes are a cornerstone of almost every town and there are numerous mobile coffee making avenues as well,” she said.

“We’re running Barista Essentials in October, November and December to teach the basics of coffee making and how to use and maintain an espresso machine.

“It will also teach you general safe food handling practices.

“I encourage any local youth desiring a job in hospitality or tourism to come along and learn one of the basic skills needed almost everywhere these days, the art of making a great cup of coffee.”

Barista Essentials courses are scheduled for some Monday-Thursdays during October, November, and December, from 9am-2pm.

Courses will be delivered at NV College located at 31 Cooper Street, Macksville.

Fee-free courses at NV College, like Barista Essentials, are delivered under JobTrainer and are fully funded by the NSW and Commonwealth Governments.

Barista Essentials is part of the NSW Government Department of Education’s Summer Skills campaign.

It is being delivered in addition to the specialist aged care and health care training NV College delivers.
