DR Tim Petterson moved to Port Stephens seven years ago, filling the role of Principal at St Philip’s Christian College at Salamander Bay after the untimely death of his predecessor.

He now leaves the Bay to pursue his career at Shore in Sydney.

Over the past eleven years he has worked with this school community and the wider community to enrich the learning experience of students in Port Stephens.

He actively participated in the Real Futures Foundations initiatives and the St Philip’s Christian College school community continues to do so, working together in collaboration with the Foundation supporting students across St Philip’s Christian College, Tomaree High School, Irrawang High School and Hunter River High School.

He sees his greatest accomplishment is from his time at the school is having attracted a team of high calibre educators and support staff to the school.

Along with the development of the new Senior School Academic precinct, car park and Early Learning Centre all of which have presented him with an exciting challenge, and ultimately resulting in a steady rise in the academic results of the students.

Dr Tim Petterson told News Of The Area, “It is always a challenge leaving behind people that you love.

“The St Philip’s community is incredibly precious to me and it is with some sadness that I say goodbye.

“Nevertheless, I am excited by what the future holds.

“The school is exceptionally well positioned as it commences its 25th year of educating students on the Tomaree peninsula in 2020,” he said.

Dr Petterson will take many memories with him from his time as principal of this school he has had the privilege of connecting with so many wonderful families and colleagues.

“Whilst not perfect, I have never experienced such a safe, caring and nurturing environment in a school as I have whilst at St Philip’s,” he went on to say.

The recruitment process is underway to find a new principal for St Philip’s Christian College presenting that principal with the opportunity to put his stamp on a school that brings much to our community.

Dr Tim Petterson will be missed, at the school by students and staff alike.
