St Michael’s are going to donate the money they made to the Country Women’s Association NSW Disaster Relief Fund. Even the youngest members of our community are now aware of the repercussions of the Drought on our food security. When students at St Michael’s were asked why they decided to raise money for the farmers, Layla Lewis from Year 2 replied by saying, “Because they are in drought. “The money we raised can go towards food for their cattle or water for their crops. “That way they can keep supplying us with food in our supermarkets,” she said. St Michael’s School as many other service clubs and schools have stepped up to raise money for the farmers and their families. Many people on the land are suffering financial burdens and loss due to the worst drought Australia has ever seen. Many people in the St Michael’s school community have links with rural communities in New South Wales and know that times are tough for people on the land and felt that it was important to help and support the farmers.
