The Raymond Terrace Men’s Shed showcased their timber goods, the Lions Club made sure everyone was well fed, and the chocolate wheel had a permanent line up out of the tent. Parents and friends of St Brigids polished their creative skills to put together stalls full of crafts and lollies with a special touch, all donated to the cause. Feather ‘quill’ pencils at old time fare prices of 50c, and impressively decorated lolly bags, tubs and tubes in a variety of themes were a hit with all in attendance, with something for everyone at an affordable price. The crowd was entertained by dancers, performers and even a martial arts display by Ko-ryu Uchinadi in Raymond Terrace, led by 6th Dan Sensei Bob King. The back field was filled with a variety of rides and games, as well as the Raymond Terrace Fire and Rescue truck for children to learn about. An impressive stall of plants and creative displays of succulents was popular with guests, as well as the old fete favourite, the devonshire tea stall. Fresh produce from the school’s own garden was available for purchase, as well as pure Williams River Honey. A ‘selfie station’ was set up to allow people to take some comical shots, including the staff and committee who couldn’t be missed with their coloured sashes and bright costumes and clothing. The school created an atmosphere for families from across Raymond Terrace to feel welcome to join their school community event, regardless of whether they attend St Brigids, and provided a lovely family friendly event to enjoy. News Of The Area were proud to support the event, and are looking forward to reporting on more great initiatives and achievement of the school and its students.
