Bosnia is the art of slowly training plants to take on a perfect miniature form.

The Bonsai Group has been thriving for the past 24 years.

Bonsai Art Class is held at the Centre on the 1st Wednesday and 3rd Thursday of every month.

There will be a display of native and exotic bonsai trees, as well as trees in training prepared by members of the group.

Meryl Miller of the Port Stephens Community Arts Centre told News Of The Area, “Many of these trees have been worked on for years and are miniatures of landscape giants.”

Demonstrations will be held at 11am each day over the long weekend and will show the techniques used to create a bonsai by shaping and styling foliage, root pruning and branch cutting.

The free show will be open from 10am to 4pm each day at the centre in Cultural Close in Nelson Bay, off Shoal Bay Road.

The centres Feature Artist over the long weekend is Nada O’Loughlin-Yonge.

Nada loves painting the sea and ocean.

Nada is very well known for her paintings of our coastal scenes Australian Birds and Venetian scenes.

Nada is not only a talented painter, she also puts in many hours volunteering at the Port Stephens Community Arts Centre, she loves to teach, sharing her knowledge of painting and the different mediums that she works with gives her great pleasure.
