Reverend John will be ministering at both the Salamander Bay and Soldier’s Point Uniting Churches.

The Reverend’s installation was conducted by the Reverend Rod Pattenden of the Uniting Church Hunter Ministry.

Julie McAllister Publicity Officer for the churches and member of the Port Stephens Uniting Church congregation told News Of The Area, “Reverend John previously served at Revesby and Campbelltown after a former career in law.“

Reverend John Bleyerveen in his acceptance of the position recognised the gifts of people mostly older than himself and told the congregation that he is looking forward to ministering in the Port Stephens community.

Reverend John is taking over from interim Minister Neil Smith.

“The congregation of Soldier’s Point and Salamander Churches acknowledge and appreciate the interim ministry of Neil Smith over the past year and send their best wishes to him returning to volunteer in India,” she said.

The congregations are looking forward to getting to know their new minister and his family, and hearing updates from the missions in India from Minister Neil Smith.
