The dinner dance is an opportunity for dancers to get glammed up, share a meal then dance the night away and make new friends along the way.

The dancers get together each Thursday evening at Soldiers Point Bowling Club, for a dance followed by a meal.

The $2 entry fee goes towards future events to cover costs of bands and entertainment.

Everyone is welcome, young, old, experienced and new dancers, if you have been thinking of starting something new to fill in the cold winter evenings, this could be the perfect opportunity to keep active and meet new friends.

Mrs Francis Bevitt, 82, of Harbourside Haven Village, performed with some of the dance group to the delight of fellow residents recently.

Mrs Bevitt told News Of The Area, “My late husband and I started dancing 20 years ago, my favourites are modern waltz and rhumba.”

“Learning to dance is one of the best things you can do, you have to learn the sequence and remember the steps, it is also wonderful exercise,” she said.

Social Director, Jeanette Marshall, said, “Francis is an inspiration to us all, dances beautifully, and has the grace and elegance of someone half her age.”

“Dancing is wonderful for my soul, it combines my love of music, social interaction and is something which is always in my mind,” she said.
