Snappers Men Defeat Byron Bay to Take Third in Round 2 of North Coast 7s Series Coffs Coast Sport Sport by News Of The Area - Modern Media - November 25, 2021 Kempsey Cannonballs were the winners of round 2 THE Coffs Harbour Snappers won through the group stages of round two of the North Coast 7s Series but went down to the SCU Marlins in the semi-finals. After four high intensity matches the Snappers had enough left in the tank to overpower Byron Bay Rugby Club to take third place. Snappers Coach Brendan Hoy was pleased with the progress the team has made. “Very happy with the performance of the Snappers, we went one better than the last tournament to finish third. “We lost to the two finalists, which are both quality sides, we ran out of players in the last couple of games with three out because of injuries but the guys showed heaps of courage to win the last game to finish third. “We improved throughout the day and we are looking forward to the last one in Yamba in a couple of weeks,” said Brendan. The Kempsey Cannonballs won all five matches to take maximum points in round two. Cannonballs coach Jared Fuller praised the effort and stamina of his players after five tough matches of rugby. “There was a lot of effort out there, they just kept digging when everyone was fatigued, I’m really happy with the performances and stoked for the boys. “We’re looking forward to Yamba on and it’s just great to be playing rugby in November,” said Jared. All eight men’s teams and six women’s teams travel to Yamba on 4 December for the third and final round of the series. The Cannonballs and Marlins go into round three as joint leaders in the men’s competition and Wauchope Thunder and Casuarina Beaches Barbarians are the joint leaders in the women’s competition.
