This year’s theme ‘Showcase 2018 – My town is coming alive’ saw nearly 700 performers and crew from Irrawang High School, Irrawang Public School, Grahamstown Public School, Medowie Public School and Wirreanda Public come together over two nights to perform to sold out crowds.

The performance evenings are planned and executed flawlessly, from the ushers, to the performers and backstage crew, through to the home economics group preparing food for special guests before each performance.

Showcase is truly a magnificent example of high quality public education.

Lue Fagan from Irrawang High School told News Of The Area, “Showcase is something that our school, and the wider Lakeside Learning Community, is so very proud of.”

“What these staff and students can put together is nothing short of amazing.”

“It is something we look forward to every year,” she said.

This wonderfully successful night has been running for over 15 years in its current format, and requires a small army of volunteers and dedicated students and volunteers.

The audience was treated to spirited group dance ensembles, talented harmonic choirs and soloists that brought a tear to the eye.

The school home economics class worked tirelessly in the kitchen to treat a VIP group to some special treats before each night’s performance.

Year 12 students, celebrating their final Showcase for their schooling years, always leave the crowd full of emotions when giving their farewells and ceremoniously passing the baton to those students who will come after them and stand in their place as the leaders of Showcase.

Irrawang High School can certainly confidently lay claim to being a school who allows no child to not feel as though they can celebrate and champion their love and passion for whatever fuels their fire.
