The Club has also celebrated the history of the area in black and white images in the downstairs bar. The once rarely used upstairs section of the club along with the main bar area has undergone a six million dollar refit and there has been a change of focus for the venue as well. There is nothing old fashioned about the new sound system which will be used as the club hosts a range of great bands and performers including an upcoming show by bands that are as iconic as the venue, including Mental as Anything, The Radiators, and Dragon. Proud owner Andrew Lazarus told News Of The Area, “We are getting great feedback from people, they are telling me it is good to be back.” The venue is definitely now family friendly. Delivering concerts for kids is just one of the plans that the venue is looking at in the future. “The Shoal Bay Country Club is also supporting Nelson Bay Soccer and Rugby League Club which is exciting,” he said. While work on the public areas are now complete the team are about to embark on the next stage which is an upgrade of the conference facilities.
