Shari came home with the gold medal in the 11 year old girls 200m sprint with a time of 27.02 seconds. Anja Hurdman, Shari’s mother, told News Of The Area, “It was a close race, but Shari’s long stride and ability to finish strong all contributed to her win.” Conditions were not favourable. “The day was cold and wet but luckily her coach Bob Walkley was there to help with her warm up routine and to motivate and keep her focused,” she said. Shari also achieved a bronze medal with her NSW teammates in the 4×100 metre relay event. She was also placed an impressive 5th place in the 100-metre sprint. These results are reflective of a year of hard training and commitment to her sport. With competition now over for the year Shari is looking forward to a well-deserved three week break before she starts training again. 2019 should be another exciting year for Shari when she starts high school at Tomaree High School and completes in the next stage of PSSA competition.
