Photos by Michael Gestrin PORT Power AFL turned on the perfect day of finals football, with a huge day last weekend at their Ferodale Oval homeground. Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE The weather was perfect and the crowd support was strong for all seven Port Hunter teams to finally all be playing at the same venue on the same day. The first bounce saw the last game of the season for the two U/9’s teams and Auskick. Port Power then had U/11’s Teal take on Wallsend in their final game, unfortunately ending in a loss. U/11’s Black took on the undefeated Warners Bay, with the boy making the finals next week and finishing third on the ladder. U/13’s Maitland/Port took on Wallsend with a 60 point win, 8.13.61 to 0.1.1. They were also successful in taking their place in the finals next week, finishing fourth on the ladder. Port Power finished the day with their U/15’s taking the win over Maitland 14.8.92 to 8.7.55. They finished fifth on the ladder and will also take their place into the finals next week. Mel Nelson, President of Port Power , told News Of The Area, “I want to thank every Port player for their input into the club this season, the parents for bringing our players every week, and for all the volunteering you all do at both home and away games.” “To the coaches, teach managers and committee of Port Power AFL thank you for making my job so easy.” “Thankyou all so very much for all your hard work and efforts put in, because without volunteers, local clubs wouldn’t be what they are.” “Good Luck to all teams heading into the finals over the coming weeks, your club is behind you,” she said.
