SES community Forum and Australian Coast Safe Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest by NOTA - June 25, 2015June 23, 2015 Deputy Mayor of Great Lakes, Len Roberts, talks about SES Community Forum and Australian CoastSafe. SES Community Forum The NSW SES Mid North Coast Region has finalised a report following the community forum held at the Baptist church Tea Gardens on 19 May. The report identified several important matters for action: Community education workshops/info sessions Explore avenues for improved emergency broadcasting into the Tea Gardens area. Advocate for the establishment of a NSW SES Unit at Tea Gardens Identify and deal with dangerous trees The NSW SES will continue to work with Council, Bureau of Meteorology, other emergency services and stakeholders to improve information (and access to it), warning systems (including communication of information, warnings and orders); and other emergency management arrangements. The NSW SES will convene community education workshops from time to time to enable community feedback and inform residents on how to best prepare for, respond to and recover from severe weather events. Council is also in preparation of a report following the clean-up and what needs to be done to ensure community safety and procedures with clean-up. Council is still working with government agencies to ensure that all aspects of clean up and hardship is addressed. Coast Safe Australian CoastSafe will be assessing every beach and rock headland in the Great Lakes LGA (Nine Mile Beach to Yaccaba Head) as part of a state-wide drowning prevention project known as Project Blueprint. Consultation with local land managers, emergency services, fishing groups, lifeguards, surf life saving clubs, surfing groups, other specific stakeholder groups and the general public is fundamental to the success of this project.
