ONE day only sees the Service NSW Mobile Site set up camp in Tea Gardens, on Thursday, 11 May. Open between 9am and 3pm only, an on-the-spot mobile service vehicle will be parked at 222 Myall Drive, presumably near the Council Library building, entering from Marine Drive. Representing the latest in government-embraced technology, locals from the Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest, Pindimar, Bundabah and North Arm Cove areas will witness the luxury that slightly more populated centres have. According to the Service NSW notification, “The Mobile Centre offers similar services to the physical site, including licences, certificates and rebates.” Anyone intending to take advantage of this rare occurrence should be wary of the possibility that the specific service they are seeking may or may not be available. The official website names the following services, which should be taken to mean that these are the most likely to be available at the Mobile Service Centre: “Driver’s Licence, Photo Card applications and renewals; Driver Knowledge Tests; Working With Children Check applications; Applying for birth, death and marriage certificates; Savings Finder program to access more than 70 government rebates and vouchers.” Mobile Service Centres do not carry cash, and any necessary payments can only be made by personal or bank cheques, EFTPOS, credit or debit card, with digital options likely incurring a ‘merchant fee’.
