The songs to be performed are inspired by the sounds experienced when rushing down the river, sailing across the ocean, and cruising on the sea. The Concert will be held in the auditorium of the Soldiers’ Point Bowling Club from 2.00pm on Saturday, 15 June. Jeanette Antrum of the Seaside Singers told News Of The Area, “This is our major fundraising activity for the year, and we invite the community to come along and support us, as we endeavour to continue providing quality, affordable entertainment to the residents of Port Stephens.” Tickets at $25, or $20 concession, are available from the Bowling Club, or can be purchased on the day at the door of the auditorium. Children under twelve are admitted free. “This concert is a prelude to a Choral Festival to be held over the weekend of 25th- 27th October, when choirs from Japan and the USA will join the SeaSide Singers and 6-8 Hunter regional choirs for choral workshops and a Public Concert featuring all choirs under the theme of Universal Harmony,” she said. The SeaSide Singers are looking to appoint someone to the position of accompanist to the choir for Tuesday night rehearsals, and performances. If you are interested, please get in touch with Jeanette on 0418266393. The choir is building on the high profile it earned last year with its tour of Japan and welcomes new members. The SeaSide Singers practices are held in the Tomaree Community Centre every Tuesday night from 7.00pm. No auditions are required- a love of music, particularly singing together, is the only prerequisite. By Marian SAMPSON
