Elbourne Plant Hire, a local contractor donated the plant equipment and operators and a local rock quarry, Boral East Seaham donated the road base. Mr MacDonald said this was an example of great community collaboration and generosity that reduced the cost of the project by approximately $25,000. “The interior roads to Seaham Park have been damaged by heavy vehicles, flooding and local run off and needed upgraded drainage and tar sealing,” Mr MacDonald said. “I congratulate the Seaham Park and Wetlands Committee for their sustained commitment to the Park including their advocacy requesting assistance from the NSW Government. The NSW Premier Hon Gladys Berejiklian recognised the value of this important community asset and was pleased to approve a grant of $5000.” “The volunteers on the Committee have worked hard over the last few years to deliver one of the best parks in Port Stephens. They worked with Boral Quarry, Elbourne Earth Moving and Port Stephens Council to deliver a new Park entry and car parking area,” Port Stephens Councillor Ken Jordan said. Ms McGee was grateful for the community and government support. “Local community and government effort at both the local and state level achieved this project. Without such support a small community group could not achieve such outcomes,” Ms McGee said.
