Or media@newsofthearea.com.au Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE The Rotary Club of Myall Coast has been recognised by the International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians for their work in supporting the re-forming of the Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens Scouting Group. “But we need two leaders and they need to come from the local community,” Rotary’s Ian Mackenzie Smith told News Of The Area. “Obviously, having someone who’s been a scout would be great as a leader but it’s not necessary.” The Youth Service Award was presented to Rotary “for service exemplary of Rotary International’s commitment to youth throughout the world through cooperation between Rotary International and Scouting”. Local tradesmen have donated their time and efforts to get the Scout Hall habitable again. Rotary would like to appeal to the members Community to consider the benefits of having an organisation such as a Scout Troop available to the younger generation. “The advantages of an experience like Scouting by providing an outdoor classroom with life skills and healthy exercise on the curriculum is immeasurable,” Ian said. In summary, there’s 20 eager kids, there’s a Scout Hall, but no leaders. ‘Sadly, without adult involvement, it’s not going to happen,” Stan Woodrow said.
