ANGUS Anderson has been given the opportunity of a lifetime to break into big time footy.

The Sawtell/Toormina Saints player is one of just five players from NSW and the ACT to receive an invitation to attend this year’s AFL Draft Combine.

The 18-year-old is one of 90 players from across the country who will take part in this month’s AFL Draft Combine at Marvel Stadium.

The 2021 NAB AFL Draft Combine will assess each player’s physical strengths through several tests including 20-metre sprint, agility tests and vertical jump.

This year’s AFL Draft Combine is scheduled for 29-30 September at Marvel Stadium in conjunction with the NAB AFL Under 19 Championships, which Anderson is set to take part in as a member of the Allies squad which features the best players from NSW/ACT, Queensland, Tasmania, and the Northern Territory.

The two-day national Combine includes medical screenings, AFL club interviews, and media commitments, with Anderson receiving an invitation due to being identified by recruiters of four clubs.

The National Draft Combine is an opportunity for players like Anderson to showcase their physical ability before the 2021 NAB AFL Draft at the end of November.

The young midfielder caught the eye of AFL recruiters after outstanding performances for the Sydney Swans NAB League Under 19 and VFL sides.

An invitation to the AFL Draft Combine continues a great year for Anderson.

He made his VFL debut for the Sydney Swans this season after being a part of the Club’s Academy program, joining the Swans after being part of the Southport Sharks VFL team.

The Sawtell/Toormina Saints product started in Auskick at the age of five and has played all of his club footy for the Saints including this season.

He had an outstanding 2020 season finishing runner up in the AFL North Coast seniors best and fairest and winning the under 17s best and fairest.

Anderson has also played representative footy with the North Coast Force at all age levels and was a member of the Northern Heat program for two years.
