A DOMINANT second half saw the Sawtell Scorpions earn their first win of the Coastal Premier League season.

The Scorpions stung the Taree Wildcats 6-2 in their Round 5 fixture at Toormina Oval.

Despite sitting last on the ladder, the Wildcats made sure the Scorpions knew they were here to play as they created a number of early chances and capitalised with the first goal of the match in the 13th minute.

The Scorpions hit straight back with an equaliser against the run of play.

AS the first half continued the Scorpions started to get on top in the midfield and capitalised taking the lead with a penalty goal in the 22nd minute.

The Scorpions forward pressure starved the Wildcats of possession camping the visitors in their own half.

But the Scorpions were unable to capitalise on their dominance of possession as they missed numerous chances in front of goal.

The Wildcats had some glimpses of chances towards the end of the half, and should have made it 2-2 after missing an easy chance in front of goal.

The Scorpions would assert their authority in the second half scoring four goals to one.
