Or media@newsofthearea.com.au Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE Maret, a representative of the Recycling Centre, told News Of The Area, “For as long as I am working here, I hope we will have this collection point.” “I was shocked to learn, ladies were reduced to using newspaper as they were forced to choose between food and sanitary products – No one should have to make that decision,” she said. The current appeal is for Christmas, and is called It’s in the Bag. This is for donations of handbags, deodorant, lip balm, toothbrush/paste, baby wipes, hair brush, a whistle and sanitary towels. Sanitary towels are available locally from as little as $1.69 for 20 pads. Whilst it is not essential for the handbags to be new, they do need to be in good condition. The aim for the Christmas appeal is to give ladies a handbag filled with essentials and to ensure they have something for Christmas day – their dignity. The closing date for the appeal is end of November 2016 and donations will be distributed through the Yacaaba centre, Nelson Bay. To help get the ball rolling, the Recycling Centre has donated $100 worth of sanitary towels to this worthy cause.
