“This is a very exciting year for the Wishing Tree Appeal with new options for donating.” Rebecca Martin, Kmart Salamander Bay told News Of The Area.

Rebecca is referring to the option this year to take a bauble tag off the Wishing Tree and make a donation.

The bauble tags have a set amount and option for the recipient to make a personal selection.

Options being $5, $7 or $10, first is for a young person to choose a book for studying, $7 would buy a basketball and the $10 would give a senior citizen the opportunity to purchase toiletries of their preference.

Mikayla Martin, said, “The continued support from our local community is so impressive and I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who is able to participate.”

Mikayla also advised that there is a gap in donations for teenage boys and urges the community to keep them in mind, “Teenage boys like toiletries too.” she said.

“We would like to thank the Anna Bay Ropeburners for all of their support, we also greatly appreciate the continuing support from the Salvation Army and the community for this worthy cause.” David Wright, Deputy Manager Kmart Salamander Bay, said.

With more than 2.9 million Australian’s living in poverty, all Australian’s are encouraged to do what they can.

The Salvation Army and Kmart work very closely together in supporting our community, donations made in Port Stephens, stay in Port Stephens and any leftover gifts are given to the Salvation Army to distribute during the year to families in need to celebrate birthdays.

Supporting the Wishing Tree, means many more locals can have something at Christmas.
