Ryan is married, with two young children, and actively involved in many and varied sports and community programs across Port Stephens. Ryan spoke with News Of The Area about his interest in ensuring Medowie is given adequate attention in the next Council sitting term. “I am extremely excited to work with the Medowie Community over the coming months to listen to how I can support and grow the community.” “As a father of two young children I am always looking towards creating a better future for the next generation.” “Medowie is such a fantastic place to raise children and we need to keep looking at how we can enhance facilities for families,” he said. Medowie residents took to social media this week, voicing their concerns and fears of Medowie being ‘left behind’ with worries of a new Council only focusing on the Nelson Bay and tourist precinct. Ryan Palmer told News Of The Area he has fielded calls and discussion already from Medowie residents about this very issue, and is focused on ensuring that a Council under his direction would not leave Medowie behind. “Medowie is one of the top growth areas in Port Stephens and the Hunter, as identified in the Hunter Regional Plan; with this in mind, I will ensure that Medowie gets the investment and services it deserves. “Port Stephens is just not about Tourism, our largest industry is actually manufacturing.” “Medowie is in such a strategic and important location, and I will ensure that investment is spread right across Port Stephens,” he said.
