Our heroic men and women in orange, our volunteer firefighters, are heading for potentially their busiest season, and it’s important that they know how much the community appreciates them and all they do for those around them to protect us from fire.

If you’d like to play a part if recognising these amazing volunteers, come along to a special on day music festival that has just been announced, to be held in honour of our Rural Fire Brigade members.

Sunday 14 October will see an event to raise funds and awareness for local brigades, to be held at a beautiful property called ‘Boolambayte’ (5kms down the Wootton Way from Bulahdelah and follow signs).

News Of The Area spoke with organiser Trevor Knight, who told us “On the day, we have some great musical acts performing including; Kerosine Kate, a great local country/rock band, Down By The River, a professional covers band, Sweet and Stumpy, a local duo, The Two Lilys, a Saxophone and Guitar duo. Graeme Bird, Country Singer/Songwriter, Maggie Scott, an International Entertainer from Sydney, and me, Trevor Knight.”

There will be market stalls and a display of hand made locally crafted instruments, as well as food and drink stalls, including the infamous Rural Fire Brigade Sausage Sizzle.

A Horse Whispering workshop will be conducted on the day, and Ron & Helen Hindmarsh (acclaimed professional Artists) will be on site giving art demonstrations.

Trevor said, “All the Rural Fire Brigade trucks will be there for inspection, and as the saying goes, much more to come.”
