Following in the footsteps of Rotary Clubs throughout the world, the general trend is moving in a direction of removing some, not all, of the formalities and introducing some fun and interesting activities for members to share with the locals in our area.

One of the changes is that the Club now meets twice a month instead of four times a month with one of the evenings taking the format of a meeting and the second get together being purely social with the first of these evenings entitled, “A Night at the Movies” which will be held in the Catholic Church Parish Centre on Monday 19 August, 6.30pm for 7.00pm.

Format for the movie evening will commence with a glass of bubbles accompanied by an array of nibbles after which time members and friends will sit back and enjoy a fantastic Australian movie, “Last Cab to Darwin”.

Loosely based on a true life story, the film tells of Rex McRae, a cabbie who has never left his hometown, Broken Hill but for reasons to be revealed, Rex takes a picturesque journey across Australia’s outback.

President, Ian Mackenzie-Smith told News of the Area, “In an effort to create a new image for our club, we decided to open this movie evening to the public and offer everyone the pleasure of spending a great evening together and to enjoy the hospitality of RotaryMyallCoast.”

For the modest price of $5.00, you get to watch a fantastic movie, make some new friends or liaise with some old ones and maybe give thought to joining this innovative and community minded club.
