Many members of Rotary have developed projects that have brought significant change whilst experiencing personal growth in an organisation that is respected worldwide for its high values and standards.

At the recent Nelson Bays Rotary Club’s Awards night, Community Services Director Chris Bartlett gave members and guests a brief overview of the Club’s Community activities over the past two months.

The Nelson Bay Rotary Club has been extremely busy, which has resulted in over $100,000 being given or allocated for Community Projects.

$35,000 was raised for the Port Stephens Women In Crisis Group for their building project.

A payment of $36,000 through Federal and Rotary Foundation grant funds was given for mechanical Gym equipment for Stage Two of the Nelson Bay Rotary Fitness Trail.

$25,000, the proceeds from the Charity Golf Day, was allocated for the completion of the Fitness Trail.

$4,500 was raised for the Tomaree Special Education School for playground equipment.

The Geoff Richardson Appeal through Richo’s Rugby Day raised $1800.

A $1,400 donation was made to Anna Bay Public School for Years 3 to 6 kids’ playground equipment.

$1,000 was given to Nelson Bay Anglican Church for the Vanuatu School Supplies Project and to the
Nelson Bay Junior Rugby team’s Vanuatu school/hospital supplies project.

$250 was given to Safari, the burns victim from Africa, who was on the television program RPA, for the Kenyan School Education Project.

The Nelson Bay Rotary Club should be congratulated for the total funds that have been raised over the past two months adding up to a grand total of $105,950.
