Cr Paul Amos, Deputy Mayor Tegan Swan and Cr John Arkan have together put forward the motion as he believes more data needs to be brought forward before an informed decision can be made.

“We’ve asked for more information,” Cr Amos said.

“We want to find out more about the difference between us leasing the airport and continuing to run it ourselves and be the landlord for the new Industrial Park.”

Cr Amos said knowing if Council will have any control over airport management is vital.

“We want to find out if we have any control over landing times,” he said.

“As part of the lease is it possible to have planes landing at odd hours. That’s got ramifications for everybody in the flight path.”

Cr Amos said he also wants to know how much control Council will have over who is allowed to be a tenant in the Industrial Park.

He’s concerned about the possibility of “noisy, dirty industries” setting up shop in the new Industrial Park which he said will be the first thing visitors to Coffs Harbour see when they leave the airport.

“Can we control that if we’re not the landlords?”
