COVID-19 has thrown a curve ball to the world in 2020 but we can thank Good Price at the Bailey Centre for their continued major sponsorship to allow the 14-year tradition of the Orphans Christmas community spirit to live on, albeit in a different format!

Organisers Debbie Leaney and Ange Anderson have decided the 2020 Covid-19 obstacle is too unsafe and a mammoth task to run the usual event whilst keeping our valued community members safe.

However, Deb and Ange are still committed to help members of the community in need.

We invite any member of our Coffs community doing it tough or alone to register for meal packs.

To assist us with numbers, it is necessary to register at the Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre, in person at 22 Earl St Coffs Harbour or by phone on (02) 6648 3694.

Meals on Wheels, part of the Coffs Harbour Community Centre, is a hub for the local homeless community and people in need and is the perfect location to distribute “Meal Packs” as a small gesture to help brighten up people’s Christmas Day.

Each Meal Pack will contain a main meal, bun, drink and dessert.

Collection will be on Christmas Eve, Thursday 24 December at the Meals On Wheels office, Community Village, 22 Earl Street, Coffs Harbour between 4.30pm until 6:30pm only.

Please note a COVID safety plan will be in place and registered persons will be served first.

If any businesses or members of the public would like to sponsor the Meal Packs with financial support via Woolworths or Coles gift cards, please contact Deb Leaney (0407 935 199) or Ange Anderson (0434 080 174) to make arrangements.

We would like to thank our past sponsors and look forward to your support.

Due to Covid-19, restrictions and the event not being held in the usual format, we do not require the assistance of past volunteers this year.

Enjoy your Christmas and we look forward to your involvement next year.

We acknowledge the public’s disappointment that our successful Orphans Christmas Luncheon event will not be happening this year in the usual large-scale format, but we are doing our best to look after those in our community in need of food for Christmas Day.

We appreciate your understanding in this surreal situation and look forward to seeing you next year at the 2021 Orphans Christmas Luncheon event.
