The program operates under the auspices of Regional Development Australia Mid North Coast and is an Australian Government initiative.

The program aims to connect employment stakeholders including employers, employment services providers, higher education and training organisations, working with them to identify and implement locally-driven projects to address local employment challenges.

Dr Saunders is a sought-after business consultant, facilitator and strategist, with over twenty five years of management experience.

“We know that employment on the Mid North Coast is a long-term challenge for business and communities,” Dr Saunders said.

“This role provides me with an opportunity to make a positive difference in this area.

“In addition, I get to meet with a wide range of interesting people across the community and hear first-hand what their needs are.

“We have identified three main priorities for our program over the next twelve months,” explained Dr Saunders.

“We are interested in sourcing innovative solutions and ideas to solve employment problems, being a conduit for real time labour market intelligence across the Mid North Coast to help meet the needs of employers, and importantly, to be an active listener to the needs of a wide variety of stakeholders across the region.”

The Local Jobs Program was initially established in twenty five regions across the country and was officially extended to all 51 Employment Regions for a further five years to June 2025.

It has been specifically created to assist regions recover from COVID-19, focusing on improving employment outcomes.

Mr Saunders joins Sara Runciman, MNCLJP Support Officer, and the other members of the Regional Development Australia Mid North Coast team at their new office in Macksville.
