Australian Red Cross is holding its annual ‘BIGcakeBake’ this August and the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest branch will have a stall at Myall Shopping Village Markets on Saturday, 15 August from 8.00am until 2.00pm.

One of the year’s biggest fundraisers for the Red Cross has asked “Join us this August and help raise money for people in need.”

Australian Red Cross has been operating in the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest area for eighty years now and hopes to get strong community support at this event.

President Jennifer Wenham said, “We look forward each year to the annual Cake Bake and hope people can take some time out to bake a treat to help those in need.”

Jennifer and fellow member Yvonne O’Donnell were honing their baking skills on Thursday, 30 July whipping up a couple of their favourite slices and cakes in practice for the upcoming event.

Jennifer added, “We will gratefully accept any donations on the morning at the stall and catching up with old friends and making some new ones.”

On the day there will be a raffle with a meat tray as first prize and a huge variety of all things baked on display and for sale.

If previous years are anything to go by, get in early as the cakes and treats go fast with the stall kicking off at 8.00am.
