Recognising Myall Coast young people through the MidCoast Youth Awards Myall Coast Myall Coast News by News Of The Area - Modern Media - June 9, 2021 THEY’RE the heart and soul of any community and the most important people in many of our lives – and now’s your chance to recognise our young people as the inaugural MidCoast Youth Awards open for nominations. MidCoast Council is partnering with the PCYC to host the awards for the first time ever, recognising the positive contributions that young people make to the MidCoast community. Nominations are invited across seven categories to recognise a person aged 12-24 years, across a wide range of achievements. The categories are Arts, Leadership, Community Service, Sports, Wellbeing, Resilience and Entrepreneur. “Each category will recognise two young people – one from the 12-17 age bracket and one aged 18-24 years,” explained MidCoast Council’s Coordinator of Community Development, Lyndie Hepple. “Winners of the awards will receive a $250 cash prize, with each category being sponsored by a local service, group or organisation.” Nominations open on Monday 7 June, but be quick to nominate – they will close on Sunday 4 July. The Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday 12 August, with Club Taree generously providing the venue free of charge. “The support of the PCYC makes these Awards possible, along with the sponsorship of several local businesses. “We’re always looking for more sponsors, so if community groups, organisations or businesses are interested in sponsoring a future category, we’d like to hear from you.” Any young person who lives in the MidCoast Local Government Area who will be aged between 12 – 24 on 12 August 2021 can nominate, or be nominated for the Awards.
