This Festival has evolved from simply a writing festival in past years, to now include all creative forms under the umbrella of telling stories.

Michelle Wright from the Story Tellers Raymond Terrace Group, told News Of The Area, “Our vision is to have a place where artists, musicians, actors, writers and performance artists can connect with each other, showcase their talents, promote their latest works and learn or share new skills.

The week will commence with ‘Poets at the Pub’ at Lakeside Village Tavern on October 24 at 6pm (5 pm registration), with emcee Councillor Paul Le Mottee, and a fun and creative evening promised for attendees,

The next event on the festival calendar will see ‘Stories through photos: a photographic exhibition by Jaqueline Tucker’ showcased at Port Stephens Library in Raymond Terrace on October 25.

The ‘Story Tellers Market’ will take place on October 27 at The Old Rectory from 9am to 3pm, and will include workshops, performances and markets.

The Story Tellers market will have a diverse range of free workshops: Cartooning and Visual Animation, Poetry (being given by the youngest presenter at only thirteen years of age), Lyrics writing, Indie Publishing Explained and traditional storytelling.

Michelle told News Of The Area, “Some of the outcomes from this Festival that we would love to see would be more people getting involved in sharing their stories and talents with others, and linking people together.”

“For example, we’d like to see some linking of artists with story tellers to illustrate books, and film producers and script writers with authors to create their works in a visual format.”

The week will conclude with ‘Screen Hunter’ screening a Real FIlm Festival at Scotty’s Cinema from 5pm to 7pm on October 27, which will also include a panel before the films.
