Mr Peter Francis from the Raymond Terrace Lions Club told News Of The Area, “It was a fabulous opportunity to engage with other Lions from around the world and engage in some real grassroots diplomacy.”
Topics covered at the forum included volunteer spirit with the Lions Club, cultural diversity in international relations, official Lions roles, understanding body language, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution.
“One of the Raymond Terrace contingent members who attended came along as a visitor to see what Lions is all about and is now becoming a member of the club,” Mr Francis said.
The forum also concentrated on all aspects of leadership and leadership training which Lions members see leads to greater understanding and cooperation between people from around the world.
Mr Francis said, “With well-trained culturally and linguistically aware leaders comes peace and understanding amongst the 200 nations that have active Lions Clubs.”
