AS Super W fever swept across the Coffs Coast the Queensland Reds players and Australian Wallaroos coaches put on a rugby clinic for local junior players last Friday.

Queensland Reds Super W players Hilisha Samoa, Asaka Ono and Sophie Holyan accompanied by former Australian international Mark Chisolm started the evening with a Q&A session where they talked about their pathways upto the elite level and answered questions like “What is the best rugby hairstyle for girls?”

Hilisha Samoa who plays prop for the Queensland Reds and Australia answered, “Good question, braids, definitely braids, they are the most practical for rugby and they also look really cool, however for boys…it’s a mullet!” she laughed.

After the Q&A the juniors broke into small groups to practice drills and played a mini match under the watchful eye of the Super W and International players and coaches.

Paul Butcher, President of Coffs Harbour Crusaders Junior Rugby Union Club was delighted to see such talent on the playing fields of Coffs Harbour.

“Having the opportunity to have the Super W teams in Coffs Harbour and a coaching clinic at our home ground is special, not only for our players but also our coaches and families.

“These ladies have given up their time the night before the finals to give back to rugby, the smiles on the kids is evidence of what it means to them,” said Paul.
