Score keeper Rod Lansdowne tallied the figures and other volunteers were on hand to ensure the smooth running of the tournament. In a close finish, the crowns and title of Queen of the Mountain were awarded to Roslyn Brown, Susan Leonard and Terrie Bowman from Tuncurry/Forster Sporties. Second place was taken by the Wingham team of Leonie Gilford, Claudia O’Donnell and Denise Matheson with the Bulahdelah ladies, Mary-Anne Hutley, Jan Bartyn and Joan Fenning claiming third. The competition was organised by Bulahdelah Women’s Bowling Club (BWBC) and has been held every year since 2011. “These tournaments are a great way to get all players from the area together to compete against each other, and it is always good be able to interact with the other clubs,” said BWBC Secretary Laraine Parnell. “Everyone definitely enjoyed the day and we’re especially thankful for the good weather.” Congratulations were extended to all teams for their participation in the annual event which is definitely looked forward to by the players each year. “We’ve had a fabulous day and we have been coming up for these tournaments for many years, and we’re privileged to come,” said Tea Gardens competitor Loretta Barker. “It’s very hard to actually get into the final cut to play in these, so it is an honour to be able to partake.” The teams represented Karuah, Tea Gardens and Bulahdelah from the local area and Pacific Palms, Harrington, Tuncurry/Forster Sporties, Forster, Wingham and Taree Clubs from further afield.
