It was a flurry of activity at Wade Park, Bulahdelah on Saturday 1 August as forty-two Camp Quality riders stopped for a one hour rest on their qualifying ride from Raymond Terrace to Forster.

Myall Coast News spoke to Donna George who is the Events Manager of the fundraising ride.

“This is the last qualifier before the official ride in September. The riders will stay over in Tuncurry and ride back.

“It will certainly test their endurance and fitness levels,” she said.

Accompanying the riders are the support crew which includes a media vehicle, a support vehicle, medical staff, a coffee van and bike mechanics.

Barry Bros. Butchery & Deli donated a sausage sizzle at the Bulahdelah stop which gave the riders a well-needed energy boost.

Shari, who works for Camp Quality, is part of the media crew but spends most of her time giving inspiration for the riders.

Her job can include calling out to riders along the way to motivate them, dressing up in costume to get a laugh and hiding along the way and jumping out to them.

Shari explained, “Camp Quality is all about making fun and adventure happen for those kids who are living with cancer.

“Therefore I come along on these rides and provide the riders with entertainment and a much needed inspirational boost.

“Its what our charity is all about.”

The riders also stopped at Nerong and Cooloongolook before arriving at their destination.

It was a great way to prepare for the 1000 km ride that the riders will complete next month.
