The planning proposal is to rezone approximately two hectares of land adjoining the Palms Oasis Caravan Park to permit a reasonable level of development; and separate an existing dwelling site from adjoining ecologically sensitive land.
The planning agreement attached to the proposal will facilitate the dedication of approximately 60 hectares of ecologically sensitive land to MidCoast Council with the provision of funding for the rehabilitation, management and permanent protection of these lands.
The documents are on public exhibition from Wednesday 18 October until Friday 24 November, with a community drop-in session planned for Thursday 2 November at the Pacific Palms Community Hall. Residents are invited to drop-in any time between 3pm and 6pm to discuss the proposal with Council officers.
“The rezoning represents the conclusion of the Pacific Palms Study Area conservation and development program initiated in 1993, resulting in significant environmental and community benefits to residents of Pacific Palms” said Council’s Senior Strategic Planner, Alexandra Macvean. “It has been achieved thanks to longstanding collaboration and consultation between residents, Council, the NSW Department of Planning and Environment and NSW Office of Environment and Heritage”.
