There was no Brooke Shields, or waterfall to be seen, on the walk, but the local Blue Lagoon did not disappoint with lovely waterlilies and a sense of tranquility that fills the location that belies the current environment of fires, drought and devastation. This was a very big turnout of walkers for the second last trek of the year. The Clubs Walking Group is extremely active, undertaking two walks a month led by Sylvia. Ann Gibson told News Of The Area, “The year is drawing to a close but not without a flurry of upcoming activities for the clubs members. “The last barbeque of the year was held on a beautiful sunny day at Bagnalls Beach Reserve, bowls is still continuing and snooker championships have been sorted with a Presentation Lunch about to be held before the club takes a break over the Christmas and New Year period,” she said. Santa will be conducting Christmas Nibbles in the Park, and a great Christmas Lunch coming up in December and the duo ‘2 Left Feet’ will be rocking the venue. You can find out more about getting involved in the activities of the Probus Club of Port Stephens at www.probusclubofportstephens.org where there is a photo gallery, information about the clubs activities and contact information. Alternatively prospective members are welcome to attend a meeting which is held on the second Thursday of the month, from 9.30am at Nelson Bay Bowling Club. By Marian SAMPSON
