SIGNIFICANT funds will be pumped into the region’s public reserves Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead has announced.

Mr Bromhead said the NSW Government will invest close $60,000 to preserve Myall Lakes’ important public reserves and community hubs.

“Public reserves in our region such as sportsgrounds, showgrounds, community halls, walking tracks and local parks are valued places which are used by our local community every day,” Mr Bromhead said.

“This funding is not only vital to the success of our regional communities, but also supports the role our professional and volunteer managers play in the ongoing management of the reserves.

“This funding will allow our local organisations to implement the improvements required to ensure these important places can continue to be enjoyed by our local community now and into the future.

“I’m thrilled to see that the money we’ve secured for each of the successful projects will go to good use.”

The 2016/17 funding allocation from the Public Reserves Management Fund Program is part of an $18 million annual program of grants and loans from the NSW Government to support the development, maintenance and protection of the public reserves.

Highlights of the 2016/17 Public Reserves Management Fund Program for Myall Lakes are:

• $26,741for the Bulahdelah Showground to supply and install a lighting tower and electrical wiring of cattle sheds.
• $8,000 for eradication and management of noxious weeds on Crown Land at numerous sites.
• $24,685 for the replacement of wooden piers under Caffreys Flat Hall with brick piers and concrete footings.

“As part of my recent Electorate Tour I was able to meet with the successful groups and share the good news,” Mr Bromhead said.

“This program is just one example of the NSW Government’s commitment to the cultural, sporting, economic and recreational life of communities across NSW.”
