Ms Leah Anderson was instrumental in establishing the networking group.

As the group approaches its tenth year anniversary, Ms Anderson told News Of The Area, “I commenced working as the local bank manager at Westpac Nelson Bay ten years ago.”

“I was eager to get stuck into some networking.”

“It was then that I embarked on a journey to form a networking group for women that was a friendly and non-pressured environment.”

“I had some discussions with a few local ladies, and together we then formed Port Stephens Women In Business.”

Ms Anderson was the founder and President for the first five years and is now a lifetime member.

She said, “From my own previous experience working for a large corporate, it was sometimes daunting when trying to network in groups that were predominantly made up of business men.”

“Women often need a little more encouragement and often face different challenges such as sometimes running a household and children plus working commitments.”
