The operators gather together bi-monthly to discuss opportunities and how they can interact with the community to make Port Stephens a better place for visitors and residents to live in.

The importance of bringing visitors to our region was recognised as was the importance of tourism in providing great options for locals in restaurants and facilities.

The organisation is responsible for marketing the destination and events and as such the small team that work at Destination Port Stephens make a difference to the lives of most of us.

At present Destination Port Stephens is working on Naturefest which will finish with the Human Whale at Fingal Bay on Saturday 15 July and Love Seafood festival which runs over the month of August.

The operators value local business.

Irukandji Shark and Ray Centre are running a Locals Month offer in August to News Of The Area readers who have a Port Stephens address on their identification which is presented on arrival.

Locals can enjoy a 50 percent discount for the month of August at Irukandji at Bobs Farm.

Lia Pereira told News Of The Area, “It’s important for us, for locals to see what we do at Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters.”

“We’re passionate about what we do and how we work with the local community,” she said.

The meeting was hosted by the team at Little Beach Boathouse and attendees enjoyed a great array of tasty delights.
