Port Stephens showcases From Trawler to Table with Demonstrations and Family Fun

THE Love Seafood Festival has seen a mix of events from the artisan Sacred Tree Markets with African Drumming circle to intimate dinners showcasing the region’s best seafood and hand gathered produce.

While d’Albora Marinas has been the epicentre of the event this weekend with everything from roaming circus acts to marine displays, there has been plenty going on around Port Stephens.

Locals and visitors also had the opportunity to board the Marine Rescue boat which provides emergency services throughout the port.

Educational sessions were well attended with sustainability high on the agenda.

The Trawler to Table series of events has seen restaurants from Little Beach to Medowie embrace the festival ethos of fresh and local showcasing everything the region has to offer.

Diners’ tastebuds have been tempted with menus featuring the new King Fish offerings from the Huon Aquaculture lease in Providence Bay as well as local snapper.

The event has seen local honey, macadamias and avocados feature on menus in unique ways.

James Davidson told News Of The Area, “Being part of the Trawler to Table program and the ethos of the Love Seafood Festival matches that of the Green House Eatery, focusing on quality local produce.”

“We have kept our Trawler to Table ingredients local and the wonderful menu shows that Port Stephens has all the produce we need to create wonderful fresh food,” he said.

The menu at the Green House Eatery signature series dinner featured hand gathered sandfire, local macadamias and beautiful local fish paired with Australian wines.

The Fish N Fun weekend events showcased local produce including some of our more unusual items like turban shells alongside barramundi from the Bobs Farm aquaculture farm.

Local fisherman Greg Finn told News Of The Area, “I was incredibly impressed with Ben Way’s culinary interpretation of my sea urchin and turban shell produce.”

Locals will be thrilled to hear that we will be able to buy the yellowtail kingfish from Providence Bay locally very soon so we can all try our hands at recreating some of the wonderful meals and samples tried at the Love Seafood event.
