FOR carers across the region, COVID lockdowns have been particularly difficult.

Isolation when dealing with a loved one’s illness and demise can be heartbreakingly lonely.

The Port Stephens Parkinson’s Support Group had not been able to have a function since June 2021 due to lockdown and Stay at Home orders.

However, as the restrictions eased, the group has at last been able to recommence their program of events.

These activities are so important for people living with Parkinson’s.

Bob Crampton, Support Group Leader of the Port Stephens Parkinson’s Support Group told News Of The Area, “Our Carers Coffee Club met at the Bay Hut Café on 2 November for an excellent morning tea.

“Later that day we had our exercise program at the Tomaree Community Hall and again on Thursday,” he said.

The twice weekly exercise program will now continue during November and December from 3.00pm till 4.00pm.

The group is looking forward to Thursday 18 November when they will have their monthly meeting which commences at 1.30pm with a meet and greet followed by guest speaker Vanessa Orton, an Occupational Therapist from NSW Health.

The meeting will be in the Waratah Room at the Library and Community Centre at Salamander Bay.

Everyone is welcome.

The venue Covid requirements are that attendees must wear a mask and be fully vaccinated and check in using the QR code.
