Beach umbrellas and shelters have transformed the Bay as holiday makers have sought shelter from the wonderful summer weather which we have all been enjoying.

All of which has seen strong trade in our local Bay cafes, restaurants and retail outlets.

Leah Anderson President of the Tomaree Business Chamber told News Of The Area, “I’ve seen people everywhere and all the cafes and restaurants throughout the days and at night seem full.

“It’s been really good to see the businesses doing so well,” she said.

Trina Afflick of Pizazz Boutique in Magnus Street Nelson Bay said, “Trade has been fantastic.”

Trina enthusiastically spoke about a good future for retail trade in the Nelson Bay CBD which her business moved to from the marina precinct.

“It’s good to see tourists enjoying the facilities that Nelson Bay provides, we’ve been getting very positive feedback about the unique offerings in the township.

“The businesses in the Bay offer a different experience to the chain stores in the main shopping centres, with every shop offering a unique style which tourist and locals really appreciate,” she said.

The new Yacaaba Street extension has also seen good use with plenty of people using the green space and pedestrian access to the waterfront.

The Bay will again hit peak occupancy over Australia Day which will be celebrated at Fly Point.
