Many Port Stephens families have been in the seafood supply industry for generations.

In August the Bay has plenty to look forward to with the Love Seafood Festival running for the whole month.

The region is renowned for its pristine blue waters and premium fish and fishing opportunities.

The Love Seafood festival runs from 1 August to 31 August, with a gala dinner, an exciting expo weekend, cooking demonstrations, a masterclass series local wine and seafood pairing and signature dinners by guest chefs, among the amazing program highlights.

Trawler to Table is back and so are the Fish to Dish menus with local eateries offering ‘meet the maker’ style signature dinners or lunches, hosted by local seafood legends, and great value festival menus.

Port Stephens is Australia’s largest oyster producing area from the time of early settlement, with generations of growers scattered around the Bay.

Don’t miss the Oyster Shucking Competition and make sure you give the blind oyster tastings a try.

Fifth generation oyster farmer Guy Holberttold News Of The Area that he is proud to say that his son is now in the business making it six generations in the industry, here in Port Stephens, with both of his parents coming from oyster growing families.

“The oysters we get in Port Stephens are of good quality all year round.”

“Holberts supply Woolworths with their supply of freshly shucked oysters state wide and welcome locals to drop by the shop front to check out the local Port Stephens produce,” he said.

Make sure you grab a few gourmet experiences in August and feel the love of seafood.
