The Port Stephens team which is made up of Elizabeth Schiemer Chair, Alissya Hassett, Secretary, Jim Bright, Treasurer, Dave and Sue Sams, Evie Kalina Mauldin, Paul Pearton, and Sally Dover who all sit on the PSCDAT Committee. The group is working on a project which will build the capacity of our local community to work together towards the prevention of alcohol and other drug related harms, through the delivery of support groups and training courses. The Alcohol and Drug Foundation’s NSW/ACT State Manager Dr Lisa Simone commends the commitment and passion of Port Stephens CDAT to prevent and reduce alcohol and other drug-related harms in their community. “The dedication of the volunteers in the Port Stephens Community Drug Action Team is inspirational.” “The Community Drug Action Team program empowers local communities to make grassroots changes which promote healthy lifestyles and reduce the risk of harm from alcohol and other drugs,” she said. Elizabeth Schiemer Chair of PSCDAT told News Of The Area, “We are keen to see the support groups and training programs launched as there is a great need in our community which we need to address.” She believes that dealing with AOD is important as AOD can lead to domestic and family violence as well as preventable suicides. “PSCDAT will be making a real difference at the coal face of drugs and alcohol abuse in our community,” she said.
