THE Port Stephens District Bodyboarders (PSDB) held their second competition of the year in some solid conditions at Box Beach on Sunday that saw a return to the glory days of foam riding in the region.

With the swell holding firm around the four foot mark the crew were treated to an ideal day as the sun and winds came to the party.

PSDB President, Chad Pisani was more than happy with what the sea gods had laid out for the boogers as a large field contested the COVID Safe event.

“We had some tricky conditions to start the day with the swell really pulsing in,” said Chad.

“It was a great turn out and as the waves dropped a little throughout the day it became highly contestable with all the competitors ripping!”

Even though all the local crew were tearing the bag at the infamous wedge it was the Novocastrian, Wade Boeree, who took the cheese in the main Opens Division as he turned back the clock out haggling his younger opponents for waves.

Grant Gardner came in second with local charger Kane Brewer and Nathan Price placing equal third leaving Liam Lucas in fifth place on points.

In the Juniors Division Hamish Jenkins took the trophy and a new sled home courtesy of Tsunami Surf, Nelson Bay for his efforts as the day’s top surfer.

In second place was Chad Pinani, with Izaac Nettle third, Yianni Paradisis fourth, Jason Blake fifth and Jack Adkins sixth.

For the Cadets it was Jack Adkins who took the golden orb, with the charismatic Tye George second, Braden McMaster third, Jacob Plumber fourth and Tyler Sarmias fifth.

Open Women’s saw another familiar name in Kaylah Pisani taking out the top gong with Milica Ibic second and Jaimi Wilson third.

In other divisions Ben Coleman took out Dropknee, Kingsley Longo grabbed Groms, again Wade Boeree pestered his way to the top of Masters and Darren Apps conjured some spells to take Grand Masters.
