These lunches provide an opportunity for Council to connect with business and to update the business community on current projects and address current issues. At the October Business Leaders Lunch guests were treated with a presentation by award winning speaker Michael McQueen who challenged the group with being ready for what the future brings and addressing the changing market place. While he spoke of being ready for Gen Y to take over the lions’ share of spending he also reminded us that we are now entering the period where Gen X is coming of age. The room was challenged by McQueen’s presentation taking them outside their comfort zone into a world of cars that will drive themselves and a space where artificial intelligence can measure the tones of the conversations which we have within our homes, ultimately being able to predict changes in marital status. Creative Communities David Engwicht spoke about the creative process involved in creating an active space and creating processes with council which will allow the Anna Bay 7 Day Make Over to achieve great things for the community. Mayor Ryan Palmer spoke about Councils current projects and recommended the new conference facility at Murook Cultural Centre for local training events. David also spoke about the need for plans to be enacted and agile, not simply creating a document. Mayor Palmer told News Of The Area, “Places are there for people; and we are looking forward to creating a great town centre for Anna Bay. “Robinson Reserve started in October, the koala sanctuary is scheduled to be completed by March and the current stage will be completed just after Christmas and the Medowie Sports Complex is on Schedule. “It was also great to see the opening of Apex Park and the inaugural Tomaree Arts Festival last week,” he said.
