“It’s great to see Abundance Road in this year’s capital works program as many local residents have complained about it to me,” Cr Doohan told News Of The Area.

“The road has been requiring a new surface for quite some time, and we have been able to work with the council staff to see it moved up the priority list,” he said.

“This work, costed at over $700,000, is well into the planning stage and involves liaison with other agencies such as Hunter Water Corporation, Telstra and Ausgrid, as well as Councils engineering and logistic staff.”

“Detailed planning is required months in advance before the heavy machinery can roll out to do the work. It’s great to see and hear that this is now in full swing.”

“I’m looking forward to the work starting on the ground early next year,” the Deputy Mayor said.

The work will be undertaken on an 800m stretch of Abundance road and will include road widening and stabilisation, the extension of drainage culverts and driveway extensions and remediation.

  1. What about doing some road widening and fixing the potholes on Fairlands Road, Medowie. I have nearly been involved in head on car accidents on three occasions in tha past six months with oncoming traffic swerving to a avoid potholes, it’s only a matter of time before there is a bad car smash, especially when the narrow poor quality road is shared with heavy vehicle and buses. Fix Fairlands Road PSC you have a duty of care to your ratepayers.
